What It Is

Closed cell spray foam - also called two-pound foam - is a high-density polyurethane foam made up of completely closed cells. The tightly packed structure creates one of the most effective thermal and moisture barriers available in the insulation market.

When sprayed, it expands and adheres to virtually any surface - concrete, metal, stone, wood - forming a rigid, airtight seal. The EPA estimates proper insulation and air sealing can save up to 20% on monthly energy bills.

Key Benefits

  • Highest R-value per inch of any spray foam (R-6 to R-7.4)
  • Complete vapor and moisture barrier - FEMA flood-resistant rated
  • Structurally reinforces walls and rooflines
  • Blocks air, dust, allergens, and prevents mold growth

Where It's Applied

  • Metal buildings and commercial structures
  • Basements, crawl spaces, and attics
  • Roofing applications and exterior surfaces
  • Floors and walls in existing homes
  • Concrete, metal, stone, and solid block surfaces
  • Flood-risk areas and below-grade applications

Best For

Projects requiring the highest thermal performance, moisture control, or structural enhancement. The go-to choice for roofing, below-grade applications, metal buildings, and any space exposed to extreme conditions.

Fourth-Generation Technology

Why We Use HFO Blowing Agents

What HFO Means

HFO (Hydrofluoroolefin) refers to the blowing agent used to expand the foam during application. It is the fourth generation of spray foam technology, replacing the older HFC compounds that have been phased out in the US since 2021.

HFO compounds - made from hydrogen, fluorine, and carbon - carry 80% lower Global Warming Potential than their HFC predecessors, with zero ozone depletion potential. Same premium closed cell performance. Dramatically cleaner chemistry.

Who It's Right For

Any project that demands the full performance of closed cell foam - and a cleaner environmental profile. HFO is especially relevant for:

  • LEED-certified and green building projects
  • Government and institutional contracts with sustainability requirements
  • Clients who want the highest-performing foam with the lowest environmental footprint
  • Any project where compliance with post-2021 EPA standards is required

Environmental Advantages

  • 80% lower Global Warming Potential than HFC foam
  • Zero ozone depletion potential (ODP)
  • Meets and exceeds current US EPA standards
  • The preferred choice for green building certifications
